Why We Walk: Awareness of Type 1 Diabetes
Challenge: Learn Adobe Flash, a video animation program.
Goal: Support future years’ fundraising for an annual JDRF walk in Spokane.
Inspiration: 1) A shoe illustration on a bookmark tchotchke for walkers. 2) The creative T-shirts designed and worn by specific teams.
The shoe illustrations were scanned, converted to vectors, then manipulated to form the various poses of walking before applying them to Flash.
Everyone asked was happy to share their shirt design, frequently pointing out the team member who created it. These T’s from the heart are testimonials to the hope of eradicating this chronic condition where frequent monitoring of insulin levels is a treatment, not a cure.

Knights of the Kiddie Table
Soon after the musical Spamalot got its cast album out, the Decca Broadway label held a “Video That Goes Like This” contest: create a one minute video of music from the album, with a picture of the CD cover, and a can of SPAM (thank you for sponsoring, Hormel).
The original actually synched; this is a bad render after getting it back from the Decca/Hormel contest site. The original video recorded 2005 doesn’t work on any of my existing equipment. At least I have this delightful snapshot of a dear friend and their best friend playing in the back yard of the best friend’s home. Cameos by me and our then-3-year-old, who says “I pooped.”
Custom mix of three songs: The Lake-r Girls Cheer, Knights of the Round Table, and the Run Away section (“I fart in your general direction…”). Cameos by me and our then-3-year-old, who says “I pooped.” Infinite thanks to the neighbor girl and her friend who starred.
I won first prize: a trip to New York to see Spamalot. All the kids got were lousy t-shirts.
