JJS Images designed these projects for offset printing – very different from modern digital printers. These high-volume print presses require a different plate for each color ink, so limiting inks to one or two reduced costs. Often using only a primary color dark enough to read, with perhaps one “spot” color for accent, Janean knew how to use tints, shades, tones and hues to highlight a design. Image preparation also considered the choice of paper, which impacts how the ink looks and behaves.
