Challenge: Create two maps, one for sale item setup, a second as a shoppers’ aid. And do both in a few days.
When the original venue for the annual Record Sale fundraiser was suddenly unavailable, I was charged with revising the print and web promotional materials *plus* visiting the replacement venue to measure out and draft a correct floor map.

Built in Illustrator, this map allowed the event team to determine the ideal location of the available table resources, allowing shoppers to walk around. This map allowed venue staff to meet the event’s needs.
The scale map was not appropriate for shoppers’ needs. Table depth widened to fit the genre labels. Arrows showed the traffic pattern.
Shoppers prefer a map oriented to the direction they’re headed in. This new layout forced shoppers into one quadrant of the floor, then turn left for the primary sales area. Although it seems odd to turn text in three different directions, this was exactly what our shoppers wanted.

Impact: A full house enjoying a great sale!
