Indy Records & the Vinyl Treasure

Challenge: Engage radio listeners with two related calls-to-action over three months, leading up to the largest fundraiser of the Spokane Public Radio calendar. The 2017 Sale featured the Indiana Jones theme.

All audio written, recorded and edited by Janean Jorgensen Schmidt. Voice talent includes Jerry Sciarrio (narrator), Janean as the mysterious woman, and James Hunter-Greene (Major Label, Indy’s father).

Record Sale 1 called for donations to start the story arc.

Record Sale 2 emphasized the donated items to be sold.

Record Sale 3 emphasized the start of the sale and to use the provided map to search through the genres.

Record Sale 4 reveals its record of power through the existence of Listening Centers set up at the Record Sale. Tip of the hat to noted audio producer Ben Burtt’s iconic use of the Wilhelm Scream, used in each of the Indiana Jones films.

Record Sale 5 promotes the unusual sorting done by volunteers that means any box could hold a treasure.

Note that use of the music involved was permitted for broadcast under the public radio rights negotiated by National Public Radio on behalf of member stations. Included here as a portfolio sample.
